Welcome to the Hudson Valley Chapter
of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA)
We serve Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess and Putnam Counties. All of our members work directly or maintain an interest in the field of Employee Assistance. Our membership includes private and not-for-profit, independent, union and management based CEAP’s, social workers, CSAC’s, behavioral health treatment providers, students and marketing professionals. As a group, we are committed to improving our skills and upholding the goals and ethics of the EAP core technology. If you’re not sure what EAP core technology is … come to a meeting!
We want to mentor and support one another as we focus on workplace issues and the challenges confronting that most precious organizational resource…employees. Our meetings offer an opportunity for professionals to network and market their programs and practices, discuss topics of interest in the field, learn about new resources, and explore better ways to successfully deliver EAP services.
What is an Employee Assistance Program?
Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) help workers access the services they need in order to address personal problems that may be affecting their job performance. EAPs also offer management consultation and training to a range of organizations to help them improve employee and workgroup productivity.
History of the Hudson Valley EAPA Chapter
In 1996, the Highlands Chapter (Orange, Dutchess, and Putnam Counties) merged with the Hudson Valley Chapter (covering Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess and Southern Connecticut). By combining our resources, we are able to offer an annual scholarship to one of our active members so that they can attend a regional or National EAPA Conference. Over the years, our meeting location has moved in an effort to accommodate the numerous counties we cover. Currently, we meet at the Teamsters Hall in Elmsford near the Tappan Zee bridge (see “About Our Meetings” for specific information) as a convenient midway point and in honor of our fellow labor EAP colleagues.
